The Toledo Community Foundation

Inspiring and Connecting Thoughtfull Giving

Toledo Community Foundation is the community foundation serving the Toledo region, including Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan with a particular emphasis on the greater Toledo area. Since 1973, Toledo Community Foundation has worked with individuals, families and businesses, assisting them in making effective choices that match their philanthropic interests and needs while creating a better community for generations to come.

The Foundation provides a variety of arrangements through which citizens may donate gifts in any amount to meet the changing needs of the community. In general, only the investment earnings are used for grant making purposes, leaving the principal intact in perpetuity. In this way, we are building a permanent endowment to support community needs in areas such as social services, the arts, education, neighborhood and urban affairs, natural resources and physical and mental health.

The board of directors and members of the Club have a responsibility to keep the clubhouse in such condition as to allow its continued use by future generations.  The Toledo Club has established a method to assist in this goal.

Through a relationship with Heritage Ohio and the Toledo Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) trust has been established by the creation of the Toledo Club Historical Foundation Fund. This will allow the acceptance of gifts for historical preservation that have the potential to be tax deductible.

Easements for historic areas of the Club have been designated in cooperation with Heritage Ohio.  Monetary gifts can then be designated for maintenance that qualifies by keeping the integrity of the original architecture.

In cooperation with the Toledo Community Foundation, such tax deductible strategies as planned giving, life insurance, grants, etc., can be discussed.
